Water Plant Operations Director Grade 19/Step 1 $59,346.50 entry DOQ
This position works under general direction functioning as the Department Head for the raw water treatment plant. Performs highly responsible supervisory and administrative work in directing and managing the personnel and operations of the City's raw water treatment plants and performs related work as required. This position reports directly to the City Manager.
Duties include planning, supervising and participating in the operation and maintenance of the plant and equipment; manages work schedules, establishes priorities, assigns and reassigns work as required; interviews, selects, and trains new employees; ensures that plant facilities and practices comply with federal, state and local regulations; coordinates with engineers and contractors on facility expansion and other construction projects and monitors and inspects progress of work; prepares and submits departmental budget; controls expenditures; collects samples and submits to outside labs; requisitions and purchases chemicals, materials, parts, and other necessary supplies; performs the duties of subordinate personnel as may be required.
Requires considerable experience of an increasingly responsible nature in raw water treatment including experience in a supervisory capacity; or an equivalent combination of training and experience. Must have thorough knowledge of modern equipment and methodologies utilized in water treatment plant operations to include distribution and tank storage; ability to identify and make effective recommendations to solve system operational problems; ability to identify and analyze current trends and development in the water treatment field; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with contractors, state and federal agencies, other City department, and the general public.
City equipment used will include a utility vehicle, calculator, computer, lab equipment and plant operating equipment as required.
Must possess a Class "A" Water Operator's Certificate awarded by the State of North Carolina and a valid North Carolina driver's license.
The physical requirements of this position are considered light duty but must have good visual acuity suitable for reading gauges, measuring, and working with machinery.

Under the general direction of the City Manager, the Parks and Recreation Director performs responsible administrative, supervisory, technical, and public-facing work in planning, organizing, directing, and evaluating the City’s parks, recreation programs, facilities, special events, athletic programs, and community wellness initiatives.Work includes oversight of park operations, recreation programming, facility scheduling, staff supervision, budget administration, public engagement, partnerships, safety practices, grant support, and long-range planning for recreation services and public park facilities.
The preferred candidate will possess a degree from an accredited college or university with a degree in parks and recreation administration, recreation management, public administration, sports management, or a closely related field, and considerable progressively responsible experience in municipal recreation, parks administration, facility management, athletics, or community programming; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Salary and Benefits Starting salary range: $61,126.90 to $65,826.90, depending on experience and qualifications. The position includes a competitive fringe benefits package, including: Local Government Employees’ Retirement System (LGERS), 401(k), health insurance, dental insurance, vision insurance, Life insurance plus paid holidays. This position reports directly to the City Manager.
