Equipment Operator I ( Street Dept. Rockingham, NC) Position available in Streets Maintenance, works under general supervision, operates a variety of light to medium maintenance and construction vehicles, tools, and equipment performing tasks requiring moderate skill; work includes rough grading streets, some reconstruction and patching of streets, and hauling construction supplies and materials; performs varied general maintenance duties and tasks to include repair of water and sewer utilities; picks up and delivers supplies and materials, assists in loading and unloading equipment and materials; washes, greases, services, and makes minor adjustments and repairs to equipment operated; performs various other duties as required. Good knowledge of traffic and highway safety rules and regulation, ability to perform strenuous work and withstand exposure to varied climatic conditions; ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions; ability to prepare simple records; and to work well with other employees.  Possession of a valid NC driver’s license, Class B required (Class A preferred) with air brake endorsement.  Work is considered medium to heavy duty.
