Office Assistant II (Public Works) Grade 7/Step 1 - $29,440.90 yr. Entry Level
This position works under general supervision, performing a variety of routine receptionist and general clerical and secretarial tasks requiring knowledge of City and/or departmental practices and procedures. Acts as receptionist assisting callers and visitors; disseminates information regarding departmental activities and programs; receives complaints and service requests, resolving matters personally or referring to appropriate staff. Operates a telephone, computer, typewriter, copier, calculator, a two-way radio and other assigned office equipment. Helps with compiling various reports to include payroll time sheets. This position reports to the Public Works Director or appropriate departmental supervisor. Graduation from a standard high school, supplemented with courses in secretarial science and office management. Experience in a general office clerical nature required; or an equivalent combination of training and experience; skill in the operation of a computer and other assigned office equipment with ability to maintain accurate records and files; Must deal courteously with public and have ability to establish and maintain effective working relationship with others.
